Before a policy is issued, most insurance policies require medical exams, blood work, and/or medical health records. Life insurance companies may deny your application or may charge a higher amount of premium if you have an existing medical condition.

A number of people are no longer insurable and may not know it. According to the CDC, heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women and that more than half of the deaths due to heart disease in 2015 were in men. Also, about 630,000 Americans die from heart disease each year (1 in every 4 deaths).
